However it has been shipped with a non working car charger and the promotion code did not work because it says 30 days has been past from the date of purchase. It was only the next day that I received the item. - Great for Delivering Pizza
Not much to say there, I got it for delivering pizza at work. It has 90% of the roads pre-mapped on the hard drive where I live, and I live more in the country. It's a good investment for anyone that owns a car. - Wonderful GPS!!!

I bought this product even though it was refurbished. I didn't want to spend $300 on a GPS but needed one because I just moved to another state. The GPS looked like it was brand new but the car charger didn't. When I plugged it in, the car charger didn't work but that was quickly resolved by Amazon & TomTom. The little gadget worked extremely well and rerouted quickly every time I took a wrong turn.
The only complaints I have about it are:
1. Battery life lasts about 2 hours at most (but this complaint has been repeated by others so I expected it)
2. It doesn't tell me to do a U-turn when I make a wrong turn
3. The pronunciation of the street names by "Susan" is mostly inaccurate but doesn't bother me that much since other voices are not perfect either
4. It takes me on a lot of minor streets instead of major ones so I'm afraid I won't be able to find my way around without the GPS (I'm hoping I will find a way around this but haven't had time to play with the details yet)
All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. - Overall great product for the price!
I have used this product a little over a month now and have no major issues with the unit. The only problem I have had so far is with the fm transmitter, because my antenna is in the rear of the car so it does not pick up the signal too well so there is a lot of static. For the price there is no other product in the market that can meet the TomTom 720 specs, such as bluetooth, voice guided directions, mp3 player, and so much more. By far the best feature is the quick re-routing directions, for example if you miss a turn or exit it will quickly calculate another route. Overall, great product for the price and you may think it is a refurbished unit there has to be something wrong, but there isn't and on top of the low price is an original factory warranty! :-) (Note: the suction cup can be difficult at times to stick onto the windshield, so first clean the glass with a little hydrogen peroxide, wipe dry, and apply some petroleum jelly to the suction cup and place on glass and I bet it won't come off again!) - Best Choice!!!

I have tried a Garmin 680 and a Tom Tom Go 720. You can argue back/forth about the gps abilities of the two brands, but there is one BIG negative that the Garmin has vs. Tom Tom. The Garmin navigation screen is pretty, but information poor. No distance to objective. No speed. No miles travelled. No street names as you pass them. And no option to see any of that except by slecting a different screen. Tom Tom lets you see all of that on the navigation screen. If you never had it, you may not miss it. Once you have had it, if you buy a Garmin, you will regret doing it. - not as direct and friendly as a garmin
I own some Nuvi 760/770 before I rate this Tomtom. Physically its shape is not so sleek, i.e. thicker and less stylish than the nuvis screen. The on-screen directions while driving require some getting-used-to, though they are Not bad at all. The cable hookup and ports are not the most desirable. searching for addresses require some backing up of screens, which is less straightforward as the nuvis (even the Garmin C340 is more direct). But it is evident than the nuvis cost more... more than you would be willing to trade for. Overall, this is a very decent product if you never have the pleasure of the elegant operation of a Nuvi. Satellite signal capture (like speed) is comparable in both Tomtom and Nuvi. this Tomtom is given 4 stars (but marginally so)

- Stopped working completely 4th time I tried to use it
Buy a Garmin! My sister buys Garmins & never has any problems with them. I've used this 4 times. The third time I tried to use it it took 10 minutes to turn on. The fourth time it took about 25 minutes to turn on. Now it does absolutely nothing at all. The green light comes on but there is no picture & no sound. It's just a blank screen. For some reason, TomTom does not list the 2nd Edition on the list of products for reviews. That is a shame, because the 2nd Ed. is one of the best GPS devices ever available. I dare to say that it is even better than the 3rd edition, as it has a slot for a SD card, what opens a new world for updates, and upgrades. The 2nd. Ed. is easy to use, robust, and takes you from point A to point B without breaking the bank. Differently than most people believe, it can be used with MapShare (you need to update it through TomTom Home), and supports most of the recent map versions. If you are bold enough to try something more advanced, you can even enable TTS (Text to Speech), so that it would not just tell you "turn right in 100 feet", but it would also tell you the name of the street, like the most expensive models. The only con is the poor battery life. However, if you are not planning to use it for walking, that should not be a problem. In a nutshell, it is a great product, does what it was meant to do, and does not cost much. - TomTom is worth it's weight in diamonds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's customizable, there is free software available from TomTom's website that you can download to totally customize your TomTom (for free) - I remove all the sounds and add many points of interest (POI) so I can find all the lighthouses and curious attractions in Maine, not to mention state and national parks.
Whatever you're in to you can download it to add to your GPS - lighthouses, historic buildings, state and national parks, amusement parks, restaurants , stores, churches, strip clubs, anything really.
And there is a ton of user created POI, also you can create your own POI.
Rock on! I will never go on a trip without my beloved TomTom, since I got it I have discovere3d so many wonderful places to visit in my state! And I will never get lost :)

This is my first TomTom product and I absolutely adore it! I purchased it on Halloween last year while I was on the road moving to Los Angeles. My brother suggested it to me while I was in New Mexico and said it would be stupid impossible to find his house if I didn't get one. I saw a Wal-Mart off the highway as he told me about it so I pulled off and grabbed one. WOW! I never would have imagined this technology as a kid, and to see it in use is a fantasy come true. I have my normal stops and certain areas figured out now here in L.A., but I still use my TomTom when I'm going somewhere unfamiliar and it saves me a TON of gas driving around looking for my stops. Whenever someone asks me how to get somewhere I make sure to let them know they should get one. My favorite sales phrase - "Dude, get a TomTom!". - A great bang for the bucks
Resonably easy to program out of the box, I use it frequently and have yet to be led astray. I travel mostly rural roads and small towns through about 5 states and finding some locations was a nightmare. The only thing that could use improvement is screen contrast and brightness in daylight. I do find the user manual difficult but I have had little reason to do try. Having had a Garmin prior to this puchase I consider this model far superior.

- No more SPEEDING TICKETS!!
When I updated my TomTom, it also had a new feature that does away with speeding tickets! How you ask? Well, those three dings just happens to warn you that you are exceeding the posted speed limit! Sometimes my high heels turn into leaded feet so this enhancement has saved me enough money to keep me in Manolo Blatnik's... - Highly disappointing -- consistently weird routing
The TomTom 720 a beautiful machine with a lot of cool features. But the routing is dreadful so often that we have to bring maps along -- which kind of defeats the purpose of a GPS.
Our older, cheaper, slower, not-very-beautiful Garmin is MUCH more reliable.
We live in Eastern Pa. and do most of our driving here. The road network is very old and established so it is not a matter of out of date maps. It's just the TomTom's routing algorithm. If we're not paying attention, the TomTom will take us 20 miles out of our way -- and these are repeat incidents so I know it's machine error, not user error. Even in our neighborhood, sometimes it inexplicably has us go in completely the wrong direction and takes wildly circuitous routes.
If you know where you're going, and you're just using the TomTom for the last 1/4 mile, the neighborhood streets, this machine can't do you much harm. But for longer trips I just can't trust it. Extremely disappointing for a $300 machine -- and the more we use it the more we dislike it.
I think our $300 TomTom is going to get replaced by a $100 MIO pretty soon.

I have had MANY problems, first with the 520GO, which I had to send back, then they sent me another new 520, which I ALSO had to send back and now they gave me a 720 and it is sitting here, and it does not work. I have spent many many hours with their tech support online and by phone- they are totally incompetent. I have no idea how they stay in business. I have asked for a refund and they just say "We do not give refunds". DO NOT BUY A TOMTOM!!! - Best Thing I ever received as a gift
I hinted around last xmass that I wanted oa TomTom after reading a consuner report on portable GPS systems. I was hopping to receive a TomTom One because of the review. My wife looked a little closer at purchasing it for me and after her research purchased toe GO 720. I was suprised and very happy. To make a long story short I took it it on a pleasure trip to California that same week, I found it extremealy easy to use and never missed a turn on my vacation. I have used it frequently even around where I live, I do not have to ask for directions to get to a new place I have never been. When I up grade to a newer modle in the future it will be a TomTom. It's great for audio books also, very useful on long or short trips. - The Best Out There...
I have owned a GPS from Magellan and Garmin. My TomTom is the tops. I have had all to often a person tell me that they are not on GPS'r or MapQwest only to enter the address into TomTom and viola, there they are and here i come. People are always impressed and want to know what GPS i own, so they can buy one.

I HAVE FOUND THIS UNIT TO HAVE VERY AVERAGE BATTERY LIFE. WE AR UNABLE TO POWER THE UNIT UP AFTER ANY PERIOD. OTHER COLLEAGUES HAVE MAGELLANS AND SEEM VERY SATISFIED.

This is a great product, was a gift for my husband now he always knows where he is going and never needs to stop for directions against his will again. - good if you know the address...
i bought this for my grandmother, who can't find her way to her next door neighbor's house. it works very well if you know the address; it's easy to use, it reroutes if you miss a turn, etc. my one (big) gripe with this unit is the terrible point of interest database. major stores (lowes, home depot, bealls dept store, etc) were not in the database--while i might expect some local restaurants, etc, to be missing, you'd think big boxes would at least be in there. it's possible to download some of them if you search for them individually on the tomtom database, but this is a real pain for me, never mind my 82 year old gm. it would be nice to d/l all of the poi's at once, but this doesn't seem possible. other than that it works very well though. i'm not sure if other brands have better databases. the object was for my grandmother to be able to plug in "walmart", and have it direct her there. while it wouldn't be a big deal for me to go to google maps and get an address, this is too big of an extra step for some people. - After one year of use, it is dead now. The worst customer service.
After one year of use. My tomtom one has a problem of charging. It is a problem of the device itself not the charger. I tried with new charger but not charing. I tried to solve the problem through customer support and experienced the worst custumer service. I will never buy tomtom again`. - STAY AWAY FROM TOM TOM

I have used 3 different products from tom tom and maybe I'm a slow learner or tom tom has bad products, just stay away from tom tom so many better gps units to buy that are better. I first tried the TomTom One 3rd edition, and although it worked rather well, it did not have spoken street names, a feature that I find very important. I returned it and ordered the TomTom One 130S since it seemed like a good price for the features offered. I noted that some of the earlier reviews were not favorable, but that the later reviews seemed to indicate that problems had been fixed, so I took the chance. Big mistake. This model should never have left the drawing board. Although this model has the "text to speech" feature that provides the spoken street names, the voice is so indistinct that it is difficult to distinguish "turn left" from "turn right" even when the volume is up all the way. After more research, I decided to order the Garmin Nuvi 360, and I have been very pleased with it. Perhaps a different model TomTom would have been better, but stay away from the 130s. - TomTom ONE 130

We have used the GPS a few times now, and it is has been reliable and correct. Without reading the manual, my family and I have had no trouble figuring out the menu items. - Great for my first GPS
This was my first GPS, as I got a great deal I wasn't going to complain. The TomTom is really easy to set up and use. The voice is easy to hear, as long as you don't "crank" your radio. The only downfall I find is if I go off the beat path, the first thing it does is try to get you back on it, and living in a crowded surburban area, most of the time I do that to avoid traffic. - Good and an excellent tool for the traveler
Over the last year I have used my Tom-Tom to travel over 5000 miles in my motor home. It is an excellent tool to travel the road the only thing it could not do was lower the gas prices. I wish it had a bigger screen but for the money it is an excellent buy and I love the British accent - Volume
I like almost everything about this device. It's small enough to carry. I purchased a specific car holder device (extra but worth it) which very much adds to the convenience. The one flaw is that I can barely hear the instructions. This is expecially true when I have the radio on.

Okay, so I am the woman that is always lost. I have lived in the same area my whole life, but if I get turned around, I am hopeless. I started a new job about a year ago where I would be seeing clients all over Los Angeles County, and I knew I was in trouble. I bought a TomTom, and I can't express how much of a stress relief it has been! I have driven many many places, and it has only been wrong (slightly, and I quickly figured out the problem) twice. I spent a long time researching which GPS to purchase, and I am definitly happy with TomTom. No more Mapquest when I need to go somewhere, I can just hop in my car, input the address, and off I go!
Some of the inputing takes getting use to - i.e. you put the city name first, then the street name, then the number. My only complaint is that you usually have to know if the street is North/South etc. and I forget to ask. You can also download new maps, cool voices, and other features from the website. It has tons of Point of Interests, so I can even go places if I know the name of the venue but not the address. Directions are given with plenty of advance notice, and even includes your next turn so you know which lane to turn into (Turn Right, then Turn Left). TomTom does not tell you the street name to turn onto - only the distance to go, but it has it on the screen.
I don't have a cell phone, so I can't tell you about the bluetooth, or the internet features, like live traffic, but overall, I love my TomTom!! - TomTom Go510
I purchased the Go 510 because of the great reviews. I was a little dissapointed to find that my home address is not on the GPS map, like many other people this can be frustrating when the maps are not up to date! I have found many places not on the GPS map system, so TomTom get them updated!!!
The GO 510 has performed well, I had a few problems of having to reset it several times over the first month of using the unit, but its run great since then and performs well. Other than the map updates it is a good unit. The screen is the right size, the voice for letting you know turns are coming up is great, lot's of POI to download. Just not updated maps....had to throw that in again. Seriously this is a good unit for the price, but with this unit being discontinued, buy an updated model that you get free map upgrades. - Nice item, but...
This unit is an older unit so the software loaded with it is dated 2006. I just bought in in July 2008. For anyone looking for the most up to date maps out of the box this is not the unit for you. I bought this to replace a Magellan Roadmate. It has some nice features but could use some the Magellan had such as multiple users and an easier to access volume control. - Poor quality and directions
I am greatly disapointed in the quality of the product. The device frequently takes 5+ minutes to locate my position when I turn it on. I shouldn't have to get the device out to the car and turn it on several minutes before I leave so that I can get directions to my next destination. Similarly, the battery life is very poor. After just a few weeks of use, it would routinely last only 5 minutes before giving me warning messages about the power. As a result, I need to travel with the charger at all times and cannot use it without it being plugged in which brings me to the next issue. The device is poorly designed. For some reason they decided that the only way you would ever want to charge it, is with the full base. You cannot plug the charger directly into the tomtom which means you must have the charger with you at all times. I also found that it frequntly asked me whether I wanted to connect to my PC, while I was driving. After a month of aggrevation, I called to complain and eventually received a replacement device. Unfortunately, only the issue about connecting to my PC was resolved which makes me think it is a poor quality system and this doesn't even go into the times when it gives misguided directions (something which I would assume that all devices do from time to time). I would recommend that you stay away from this device and possibily the TomTom brand. - Piece of Junk
I have had nothing but trouble with this unit. It could not navigate on the olympic peninsula in Washington state. Resets itself too often. Finally, when I really needed it one night, it died. Not a power issue as it was plugged into the car with the charge light on. Tried charging overnight - now it will not reset and not even come on. Returning it for something that works.

I got a Tom Tom 910 for Christmas. I used it when I traveled out of town. I really loved it, but I put it away and didn't use it for a few months because I didn't go anywhere.
When I needed it it wouldn't start. I reset it. I charged it. I reset it again. Called Tom Tom customer service. They made me reset and recharge and then told me the battery was dead. They said that I could return it for repair, and I asked how much would that cost. Answer - more than a new unit! I asked if I could buy a battery and they said the battery COULD NOT BE CHANGED!!!!!!!! So basically I used it a couple of dozen times and then threw it out.
I won't buy another GPS that has a permanent battery. - T 910
This GPS is the best! I purchased mine refurbrished, it froze during the first times I turned it on. I hit the reset button on the back and havent had any problems since. This tom tom is turely the best though. - Buy Tom Tom at your own risk
I bought a 910 2 years ago. It has pretty much since then been sat side by side with my Sirius Sat. radio on the dash of my truck. My Tom Tom Died last week from what I can only summise as being overheated, I summise this as I have had problems in the past with the unit not switching on when hot.
I called Tom Tom tech support to be told the unit was out of warranty and they do not offer a repair service.
I was offered a Loyal customer discount, which basically meant I'd have to spend alot of money with them to get a replacement.
Funny how this device has sat on my dash for only 2 years and dies whereas my Sat. radio has been there for over 5 years and is still going strong.
All in all I am throughly disapointed in Tom Tom's service and the quaility of thier equipment.

TomTom GO 910 4-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Bought the 910 about a year and a half ago. Stopped working so I followed on-line suggestions to no help . Want to meet the engineer who located the reset hole on this puppy. Even the tech rep admitted it was an embarassement. Techie told me I probably left it on the dock too long without using. Where said I is that in the product information (it's not)
Sent it back (under warranty) and while I waited bought a NUVI. No comparison, the NUVI is much more intuitive and user friendly. Tom Tom replaced it with a "refurbished" unit. Didn't even bother to use it until tonight when I gave it to my daughter to use on a Fourth of July junket. Problem is the replacement unit is "home based" in Kinsale Ireland. Some nice travel photos were included though. Followed on-line instructions. tried to download fix through cell phone as recommended. Ireland centered unit doesn't recognize my Verizon cell.
Set up the home docking station outside with an extension cord and tried to re-set unit with my laptop on-line. 20 minutes later-No good. Tried to call "customer support". Their hours are now 8:30 to 7:00. Hey Tommy Boy what happens if you have a problem with your navigation unit outside bankers hours?
I'll be on the phone tomorrow but my daughter will be gone on her trip. Ironically, I'll be in Kinsale next week. Maybe I'll try to find the prior owner and we can go over his photos. Hey maybe when he returned his unit he got my Amityville, NY defective unit in exchange. Wouldn't that be a pub story?
Whether I go to Ireland, New England or locally, I'll put my trust in NUVI. What kind of quality control department sends out a replacement unit without testing it or re-setting it. What kind of International marketing outfit that sells vehicle navigation units does not provide access to 24 hour customer support?
I've owned both Tom Tom and NUVI, and how do you think I'd answer that question?

I have purchased three units and am extremely satisfied. You will not get lost using this unit. If you get off track it recalculates immediately. Getting used to the options and controls takes a while to learn but still easy to use.

Bought this for $199, has been working well and going everywhere with us since the day we bought it. Easy to use and the battery last about 4 hours in a single charge. Connectin to the satellite is a little slow at first, but after a software update it's not a problem anymore. I am not to crazy about the bluetooth, I have a blue tooth headset that's better....:)
Putting extra software is a little tricky because it's a refurbished item and I had to call the tech support because the unit ID in the box is different than the one on the device help menu. I haven't tried the gas price notification update yet, but I am going too.
Overall is a great GPS for the price and very user friendly.

It's a modern marvel. It's an incredibly reliable product. Easy to use. Fun to have. I use it mostly when traveling, for reviewing my routes and geo-tagging pictures I take.
Remember some 10 years ago you had to buy a separate GPS for planes? Not any more. I always leave it on on a plane and later review the flight. Exciting!
At ~$100 it's a steal. Some 10+ friends got one following my recommendation. No one is disappointed.
